When the filter pump is switched off, this air vent allows air to enter the solar heating system so that it can drain. When the pump starts up, the air will escape through the air vent (and not through the spray hole).
An air vent has the disadvantage that the entire installation, including the filter pump, will drain. To avoid this, an additional check valve must be installed, preferably in the suction line of the filter pump. We recommend using an air vent only for solar heating systems that protrude 6 metres or more above the pool water. In these installations, the solar heating system can be sucked flat due to the negative pressure of the water column when the filter pump is not running. In the box: air vent with 50 mm connection.
