Automated three-way valves are mainly used for controlling solar systems. When the sun shines (temperature at the solar collector is 4°C higher than the water temperature), the valve switches to the “Solar Heating” position. When cloudy, the valve moves towards the pool. The valve is usually connected to a temperature controller (not included).
A lever on the side of the motor allows you to set the valve to manual or automatic operation. The ball on top provides a visual indication of the three-way valve position.
The valve has an L-shaped flow, meaning water enters through the middle opening and is then directed left or right. An identical manual three-way valve is also available.
Advantages of a Ball Valve
The special feature of this valve is that it rotates 90° back and forth by a motor. This has three benefits:
The valve is never fully closed while turning. This prevents pressure shocks in the pipes caused by rotation.
The ball pressure of the valve is adjustable at the valve connections (unions). This allows the pressure to be set so the valve turns very smoothly without pressure on the inner wall.
The valve can also be used in applications where it remains partially open (for these cases, you should choose the WiFi variant).
In the unlikely event of a malfunction, the valve can be replaced by a manual valve without resealing the pipes.
